Teachers training
Informatics tools in STEAM education and Makers pedagogy - Introduction
Cluj-Napoca 25-29 August 2024

Also referred as Cluj-Napoca MeJ Makers 24' Summer School, this course aims to present to the teachers involved in the MeJ Makers project, the concepts and tools relevant to implement STEAM education and "makers" pedagogy, and to enhance their skills through interactive activities.
At the beginning of this training, we will provide an overview and engage in a discussion on the exact nature of STEAM education and the associated "making" pedagogy. We will discuss the potential benefits for high school students and address strategies for integrating these approaches into their curriculum.
Later during this course, we will focus on the concepts involved in activities such as experimentation, analysis, understanding, modeling, simulation, and dissemination, from a theoretical perspective, and by introducing relevant methods and tools, namely: symbolic computation, numerical processes, data analysis and visualization, 2D and 3D geometry, computer-aided design, and additive and subtractive manufacturing.
The training will follow a workshop methodology. Participating teachers will have the opportunity to discuss and work together on various tasks. Teachers and facilitators will have the chance to share experiences and exchange ideas, materials, and practices.
Program

Each week day will consist in a set of 4 separated one-hour fifteen topic-related activities. Each activity will include a 20-30 minute presentation and time for discussion and/or personal exploration of an example.
In case of late arrival of the French delegation, introduction session may be shifted to monday morning and following scheduled will be shifted accordingly.
